What kind of yoga mat would you recommend?

I'm a beginning yoga student and I want a mat so I don't have to use the rentals at the gym. I want one that will be of a good quality, but not too expensive that will work well. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good kind and where I can find it?

Well It is important that the mat would be safe to use and non-toxic - free of PVC, cadmium, lead & phthalates.
Some manufacturers add these ingredients to make the mat material more flexible, but some studies have shown the increased health risks of using products that contain those substances.
