Is it alright for me to use my track spikes for cross country?

I bought middle to long distance track shoes for track (4x4, 800, 1500) and I am wondering if it would be alright for me to use them for cross country. I'm worried that it my be bad for my feet. I just want to know if it would be alright, or if its vital that I just get some cross country spikes

Use regular training shoes for everything except competing. If you are competing on a course that is mainly gravel or road, get plugs to use in the bottom instead of spikes, otherwise you will just dull the spikes and make an insanely annoying sound the whole time you are running. If the course is grass or dirt, go for spikes in the bottom. Personally, flats are ideal because they won't hurt your feet as much and they are still super light. Spikes will make your feet hurt especially if you can put your spikes on the ground so the front is touching and the heel is no where near the ground, your feet will kill by the end of your race. If they have a pretty good heel on them you probably can use them just make sure you take them off right after your race and don't put them on till right before.
