My waterproof watch isn't waterproof, why?
I have a Nike Imara Heart Rate Monitor. It says right on the face of the watch "H20 50m". It is SUPPOSED to be water proof up to 50 meters underwater.
I wore it swimming several times, but after that, the numbers on the digital display began to "fade" away, and eventually the watch went blank and even with a new battery would not come back on. After about a week, it did eventually come back to life, and it is now working again.
But there are water spots INSIDE the glass on the face of the watch, so obviously water got in and that why it died.
What could cause a waterproof watch to become no longer waterproof, and what can I do about it? I mean - aside from putting into a ziploc baggie and stuffing it down the front of my swimsuit.
most watches are not water proof, but rather water resistant. Which basically means they can take water a little at a time for up to a certain depth. However, they can not handle prolonged periods of time immersed in water.
